Uganda has declared free from Ebola as of February 20, 2025. This brilliant news has been announced by Uganda’s Minister of Health – Jane Ruth Aceng

About a month ago, a case of Ebola (Sudan Ebola Virus Disease) was reported in Uganda after a male nurse who died exhibiting symptoms of Ebola did test positive for the Ebola virus. Ebola is a very fatal disease with up to 50% fatality rate. It kills badly and kills fast, and has no cure! Moreover, this particular strain has no approved vaccine.

Even the most fearless traveler will keep away from an Ebola infested zone. So as expected, a lot of travelers that had planned tours and vacations to Uganda in this year 2025 cancelled immediately.

The male nurse was the only death of this latest Ebola outbreak in Uganda. Only eight of the identified contacts of the victim including family members tested positive with Ebola and were successfully treated, and have been discharged as the last Ebola patients during this outbreak. While more than 200 other contacts under monitoring did not show any Ebola symptoms.

No Ebola in Uganda after just a month??

This perhaps could be the fastest end to an Ebola outbreak. This remarkable success could be due to Uganda’s experience in managing epidemics including past Rbola outbreaks? This being the 8th Ebola outbreak in Uganda. However this has led to some people casting doubt if there was any ebola at all, coming up with a conspiracy of government looking for extra funds as the outbreak comes right after President Trump pulls the plug on USAID and ends right after WHO (World Health Organization) send a 2 million dollars fund to manage the outbreak.

Whatever the case, there is no more ebola in Uganda and you should go ahead with booking that dream trip to see the gorillas and track chimps in in the jungle, book the Murchison falls park safari tour to see the world’s strongest waterfall and plenty of game, and enjoy first class white water rafting on the Nile in Jinja etc..

Stay vigilant still..

As you go ahead with your visit to Uganda, stay vigilant and practice these two crucial SOPs
