Top things/adventures to do on the River Nile in Jinja

Source of the Nile Adventure

Take a boat ride to the spot where the Nile actually starts. Bubbles can be seen at this spot indicating a flow from underground, which is then joined by water flowing from Lake Victoria. According to ancient explorer, John Speke, this spot contributes up to 30% of the Nile waters which is believed to be the highest contribution of all the water sources of River Nile. Other water is contributed by numerous lakes and rivers. Next to the source is a tiny island that accommodates some wildlife including Monitor Lizards and water birds such as Cormorants, Kingfishers and Egrets. There are some craft shops at the tiny island where you may buy some souvenirs.

White Water Rafting

River Nile offers one of the best white water rafting experience in the world! There are several rapids, ranging from level 3 to 5. The section of the Nile in Jinja used for rafting is called Itanda Falls, which has 9 rapids, 4 of which are grade 5, and the rafting distance is over 20km. It takes a full day to raft Itanda, with a lunch break in between. Half day rafting is also available but not as satisfying. Great views of the lush green scenery and beautiful wildlife make the experience even more worthwhile. Expert rafting guides are available to guarantee safety. First timers can also enjoy this adrenaline pounding experience!
